THE DONS AND THE DIEN OF BIGG BOSS HOUSE SEASON 2

The best ones in the Bigg Boss 2 house have gone. They are Debojit Saha, Ketki Dave, Eshaan. Qureshi. The beauty and the charm of Bigg Boss Season 2 has been wiped off from the house by the Terror People Raja Choudhary, Rahul Mahajan, Zulfi and Monica. Now the two people who have been nominated by the terror people are Diana and Ashutosh.

Diana Hayden is very dignified graceful in all her manners and etiquettes. She thinks and talks very rationally. She talks no nonsense in the house. Diana has a very friendly relation with Ashutosh and treats Ashutosh as her younger friend there is absolutely no cheap malicious relationship between Diana Hayden and Ashutosh. Rahul Mahajan the drug Addict and Monica have a cheap, dirty, filthy, malicious relationship with both of them having their tainted, filthy, dirty past with all her blood tainted marriage to Abu Salem. Living with Abu Salem as his wife for many, many years. Monica’s all love letters written to Abu Salem have been made public by Star News Channel. Monica’s denial of a marriage to Abu Salem is a big fraud and a big farce.

Monica is a woman to hang on or to go with any man when she sees the man is flooded and flushed with money. She doesn’t care to know the money that the man has are stained with blood or they are clean money. Monica has only one thing in her mind to enjoy life as much as possible with the man even if he is an underworld Don or a traitor. Because she does not have to cook. She does not have to clean she does not have to do any work but enjoy. Monica was doing the same in the bigg boss house season 2. She has never been seen in the bigg boss house season 2 either cooking or washing the utensils. Monica just poses to be a glamour bimbo.

Rahul Mahajan’s and Monica’s relationship are cheap, dirty, filthy and malicious. Monica had picked up a deliberate argument with Diana sum days ago with her pig brain and at the end of the argument she was the biggest dumb fool of herself because Diana Hayden gave Monica the best of her school thoughts. In the beginning Monica had said in the bigg boss house season 2 that “Mere Mata Pita Ek Sharmanak Jeevan Jee Rahain hai Meri veajahase. Meine jaanbujhke nahi kiya mujche se ho gaya” (a marriage to Abu Salem and living with Abu Salem as his wife) how could Monica Say this. Monica is not a Doodh Peeti Bacchi. She is a grown up adult and she cannot escape her life by just saying this. There are cases in the court of law going against her even now. How could the producers of bigg boss seasion 2 approach her and call her in the house of bigg boss season 2. Had it been America or UK she would never have been called but would be dumped in the Garbage. But these things are possible only in a country like India. We are the biggest fools in the world. Yesterday (4th Nov. 2008) another terrorist flouted all the norms and rules in the house because of a simple tiff with Sambhavna. He kicked the decorative vase from the center table of the living room and broke it into pieces. He also kicked many other decorative things in the living area broke them into pieces. He threw water on the bed of Sambhavna and wet the bed completely on which Sambhavna slept. He spat water from the mouth on the same bed again and again. What will you say for all this terror tactics of Raja Choudhary. I ask one and all. Season 2 Bigg Boss, he was silent spectator to all these terror tactics of Raja Choudhary. A coward, brainless fool Bigg Boss of Season 2 called Raja Choudhary to the confession room and asked him “Raja aap bigg boss kuch kehena chaate hein?” Raja Choudhary the terrorist said all lies, and lies nothing but lies. Raja Choudhary the terrorist did not speak even a word of flouting the rules and norms by kicking the flower vase that was kept on the center table which later broke into pieces and other decorative items kicking them all around. The coward brainless fool bigg boss2 did not even bother to ask him about his rude terror behaviour and did not punish him which the coward brainless fool should have done immediately by nominating Raja Choudhary & unconditionally kicking him out, throwing him out and evicting him out from the house of bigg boss 2. On the contrary the coward brainless fool bigg boss 2 called Sambhavna and began to give her big sermons in a harsh rude tone. Had it been the bigg brother in UK the bigg brother would have unconditionally nominated the terror Raja Choudhary and thrown him out of bigg boss house. This is India and we are fools and therefore everybody and everyone can get away. Even Monica (Mrs. Don Abu Salem’s Wife) would never have been called to the house of bigg boss had it been America or UK.

Most of the Inmates (housemates) of the bigg boss house 2 are non vegetarian. They stuff their stomach with fish, meat, chicken, eggs and so on and there may be one or two who are non-vegetarian. Therefore the non-vegetarian like to have poha in the morning for breakfast while when poha is in plenty in the bigg boss house season 2 everybody can have poha for breakfast together. But when poha is less it can be made for one or two people who are vegetarian. Zulfi the – chaddi man, Raja Choudhary – the terrorist, Rahul Mahajan – the drug addict and Monica – Mrs. Don made a big issue of poha one morning in fact they are eating the best of the things in the house of bigg boss 2. But Monica, Mrs. Don forgot that in jail she used to have only one dry sukhi roti afternoon and night. But after coming to bigg boss house season 2 it was a dream come to Monica Mrs. – Don. Her second entry into the house of bigg boss 2 through wild card. Mrs Don tried to become more and more cunning. Mrs. Don to instigate Zulfi the chaddi man, Rahul the drug addict and Raja choudhary the terror man against Diana because Monica Mrs. Don was very, very jealous of her. Mrs. Don does not have the sensibility the gracefulness, the manners and etiquettes of Diana Hayden. Mrs. Don has to take a hundred births to be like Diana Hayden.

Instead of Diana and Ashutosh Season 2 Bigg Boss must immediately nominate Raja Choudhary and throw him out, evict him out from the house this Friday. I call upon all viewers do not waste your money by sending sms for Diana Hayden and Ashutosh. There must be no votes and sms’s sent for Diana Hayden and Ashutosh this week. It must be the terrorist Raja Choudhary who should be evicted from the house of bigg boss season 2 this Friday. If season 2 bigg boss is fair, impartial he will take the bold step of evicting Raja Choudhary from the house. But if season 2 bigg boss is coward, a brainless fool and a lame duck then he is going to protect the terrorist Raja Choudhary. No one deserves to win in the bigg boss house seaon 2. Neither the mad hatter drug addict Rahul Mahajan nor Zulfi whose all ads of (chaddis) have been banned on television because zulfi has done the maximum ads of chaddis and they have all been banned. Last but not the least the terrorist Raja Choudhary None of them deserves to win and Monica – Mrs. Don has to be dumped in the garbage.

In bigg boss season 1 Rahul Roy was the winner and a very good person. A very good man who was throughout very respectful towards every body had won the season 1 was a good win. But this time Endemol and the producers take your money back home because no one deserves to win I repeat again and again. Other wise call back all the three Debojit, ketki Dave, Eshaan Qureshi and let one of the good person win. I repeat once again to all my viewers and friends of bigg boss season 2 do not waste your money by sending sms’s either for Diana Hayden or Ashutosh let both of them be in the house of bigg boss season 2. Send sms type (Raja) and send it 56882 to evict the terrorist Raja Choudhary out of the bigg boss house season 2. This Friday 07/11/08. this is from the good citizens forum of India. We as good citizens should take the bold step of teaching a lesson to the all the terrorist in the bigg boss house season 2 if season 2 bigg boss cannot teach them. Because he is nothing but a coward, a brainless fool who cannot take the right decision. The last thing which can be said is that KPMG and BIGG BOSS SEASON 2 together rig and manipulate the SMS’s and it’s by their choice people are evicted.

I don’t know if dreams are supposed to make some sense or not but everyone of us knows how weird and crazy they can be. I never tried to analyze any dream of mine and even if I did I never found any answers on why I had a dream like that. The main reason for this being that I forget what the dream was about as soon as I wake up. I know that some people have this super natural ability of remembering dreams for so long that they narrate it in great detail the following morning. My retention time is pretty short, actually really really short, like 30 seconds once I wake up. However, once in a blue moon I will have this really demented dream that I would remember a little longer, like say..till 2 minutes.

I just woke up from this demented dream and I tried really hard re-collecting what it was about for the next 3 minutes. There were actually 3 episodes (dreams often occur in episodes, like a twilight zone series) in this dream of which I could remember only 2. But suddenly, in a flash of second, I remembered what that missing episode was. Anyway, here they are and my analysis on probabilities of why I had this dream:

Episode 1: My un-eventful wedding
The dream: It’s my wedding on 19th. I don’t know which month and which year it is but strangely, only the date and 19th is nearing by. I did not invite anybody, not even the closest of my friends. It was not a deliberate decision but because I did not think it was that important and nor I was excited about the wedding day. Me and my parents were unaware of the approaching date and we almost forgot the wedding date (the way we sometimes forget our birthdates till that very date) and only on 19th morning did we realize that it was my wedding date. So, in a great hurry, the preparations began. We got a call from the bride’s home that they will be arriving by evening, as the wedding was in our place. I started getting all dressed up and I was neither excited nor depressed, but just indifferent to the entire process and very very tense about how I should reveal this rude surprise to my close friends that I got married without informing/inviting any one of them and pissed at myself and my parents that we forgot my wedding day.

We were ready for the show by evening and when the muhurtam time came, we realized that there were no guests, not a single soul. We were shocked and finally made a decision to post-pone the event.

My analysis: I never gave a serious thought to marriage till now or should I say, I gave so much serious thought to it that I convinced myself that marriage is not for me. The reasons for this will take a whole new blog (sometime soon). Anyway, the point is that I have been trying to avoid my marraige and in my last trip to India, I had a very tough time convinincing my parents on canceling a marriage proposal they brought to my attention. I assured them that I will get married but the time is not now. In every one of my phone call to India, my dad somehow tries to bring this topic into the discussion and I always find a way to avoid it. And I have this strong gut feeling that if I get married just for my parent’s sake, it is going to be a disaster. But, I don’t spend too much time thinking about this topic in my daily life. Probably, the few minutes of my phone call to India revolves on this topic and I forget it immediatly. So, there must be something lurking in my sub-consious mind that unleashes in the form of this dream. Was the dream seconding my gut feeling that my marriage will be a disaster?? I don’t know.

Episode 2: The nosy neighbour
The dream : I was in my small and little home in Vijayawada with a friend. It’s actually a joint complex of 4 homes where I lived all my life. We live in the first portion and rented the other poritions to families. Apparently, we sold our house to this guy and now we are living in what used to be our home by paying rent to him. Anyway, I don’t know who this guy is but my friend told me that he is a very nosy guy and he wants to know everything that goes on in everyone’s personal lives. We were playing , is it caromboard or chess I don’t remember, and we thought it would be good idea to close all the doors, windows so that he would not hear us. We were just talking about some stuff and I realized that the back door was slightly ajar and there was a guy standing behind. I immediatly realized it must be the owner though I have never seen him. Since even he knows that I don’t know him, I thought it won’t be problem if I yell at him. I yelled and he left and I closed the door. We resumed our chat and now this guy was peeking from the side window. I got furious and yelled at him again. Then he came in and told us that he was just wondering if we needed anything to drink or eat. He also warned that we are loud to which I got very angry and disgusted. This used to be my home for god’s sake. He called his wife, who came with her little daughter who could not be more than 3 years old but all dressed up in a school uniform.

I observed that she had no legs. Her mom called me and requested my help in pulling her leg. I said “What” and then she lifted her daughter by the shoulders and told me that her legs are inside her body. I saw them and it was a very weird sight. Her legs were stored inside her body and once we started pulling them, they came out and then she started walking. The lady then brought us some iced tea with whipped cream (Yes, it is weird).

My analysis: We still own our home. It’s only in my dream that we sold it to this unknown guy. But the thing is that we are in a financial limbo, where we might have to sell our home to meet some other needs. I always opposed my father in his decision of selling the home and tried to find some money in meeting the goals. The reason being that I love that home though it is of no use to us now. I lived all my life there and all my memories of childhood and early adulthood are tied to that home. This is the place I want to stay in during my last days.
So, is the dream an indication that we should not be selling our home? I don’t know.

Episode 3: Tryst with Tarantino
The dream: Again, it’s in Vijayawada and it is near Urvashi center. I was driving in a car (though I never drove one in real life) and was trying to find a place to park. I happened to see the people in the other car in the parking lot. They were Quentin tarantino, Oliver Stone and one guy, let’s call him G, from our office. I thought they must be there for the premiere of W. I don’t know why but I felt a combination of a great excitement of seeing QT and jealousy on seeing them with this guy called G. G would not know squat about movies and what QT and Oliver stone mean to movies. If there’s anybody who should be hanging out with them, it should be me. Anyway, QT gets out of the car and I give him a smile and he returns it. I go near him and offering a hand shake and I tell him ” I am a big fan of yours” like every other guy who meets a celebrity and CUT..Time to wake up.

My analysis: I am huge huge huge fan of QT and to an extent I like works of Oliver stone, whose “Natural born Killers” is my all time favorite. I always wondered on what I should say when I meet QT as there are so many things I want to ask him and so many things I want to tell him about how his body of work has impacted me. The reason being that I now live very close to hollywood and I often to go to these theatres where this a good chance of celebrity spottings. QT being a regular to those theatres, there is also a good chance of bumping into him.
So, when I think about what I should say when I meet him, I am usually left with a feeling of despair. If I say something cliched like “I am a big fan of yours”, I will be treated like every other guy who saw his movies.
Also, QT and Oliver stone don’t see eye to eye as they had a big fight over natural born killers. But I love both of them and often wondered what it would be like if they get back together.
The only part I am still concerned about this episode is, what has Mr G got to do anything with this?

Marriage is an excellent institution. It teaches you to be compatible with unknown and share everything you may hesitate to share even with the known. But today, some good thoughtful people that this institution is under threat.

News: Maharashtra Govt. and Live-Ins. Recognition in waiting?

Why the concept of Live-In came into existence after all? What was the basic reason is something less probed. With the advent of Nuclear families with Globalization in ‘90s somewhere youth imbibed a fear towards marital commitment. This actually led to rise and gradual social acceptance of live-in concept. ‘I will stay with you and both will see that are we compatible enough to live together till death…’

Somewhere even I am not comfortable with the idea of living in but still feel that Maharashtra Govt. has taken a positive step towards socializing the outcaste so that the oppressed may not suffer.

A and B lives together. B gets pregnant and A runs away. What will happen? B will have to live with stigma and child will suffer for something he had no role.

A and B lives together. A is already married but hides the fact. What will happen? B will have to live with the feeling of being cheated.

In both cases today law cannot punish A or sort out B’s woes. Reason: It’s not legal.

We cannot stop people living in together so that there are minimum woes. The advisable thing is that legalize the practice that has been widely adopted. Hadn’t we adopted the Abortion Of Unborn Babies to stop population explosion and teen-pregnancies. We should move ahead with people.

Almost every human in this world is following one religion or the other. Since our birth it has been a part of our identity in the society we live.

But what was the purpose of these group-based institutions that were formed centuries ago and still affect our lives? Initially religion was built to bring spiritual enlightenment among the masses. The intention behind its formation was to evoke the feeling of love among humanity and towards God.

But with passing time, somewhere the true sense of religion has been lost and the medium which was considered to be the path to love is now no more than a frame holding and promoting a set of rules, rituals and blind acts doing no good to humanity. Now religion is used as a tool to manipulate, exploit and gain power over the masses and to promote fear.

The God of religion is one to be feared, who judges and punishes if one stands to question him or deviates from ancient rules. But surely that is unnatural? Surely God only observes, having provided free will to every soul nourished by him on this earth, to experience and live this life in a constructive way? Our True God, I feel, doesn’t expect us to follow any religion or perform any rituals, instead he wants us to be a better human with each passing day and learn from every moment by analyzing and understanding our experiences.

We should face every phase of our life with full faith in him, not in fear of him. Every human being should form and build their own relationship with God if they wish understand the true meaning of life, otherwise they would spend their entire lives following only rules.

In the eyes of God, every human, of whatever gender, caste, religion, community or sexuality is the same. We human has no right to distinguish anyone by our judgment because the only language of God is Truth and Truth means human kindness.

That is the only reality acceptable to both heart and head.

MUMBAI (Reuters) – India’s leading private carrier Jet Airways has reinstated 800 sacked flight attendants, its chief said on Thursday, following protests in cities and demands for a probe by politicians.

Chairman Naresh Goyal told a news conference in Mumbai that reinstating the sacked employees was his personal decision.

“I apologise for all the agony you went through,” Goyal said. “The management will have to understand sometimes in a family there are disagreements but the father of the family decides.”

Earlier, Jet Airways said it would lay off 1,100 staff in the next few days on top of the 800 flight attendants already sacked this week as part of efforts to cope with slowing demand, high fuel prices and the global credit crunch.

The job losses and protests have struck in an industry at the heart of India’s economic modernisation, with millions of middle-class Indians taking to the skies and carriers employing thousands of young men and women.

The airlines asked the government to bail them out but so far it has not acted.

The employees, who were mostly on contract or probation, found support from local party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, which local media said was in talks with Jet officials for employees from the state to be reinstated.

MORE LAYOFFS

Labour laws that make it hard to lay off employees have led to a policy of hiring more contract workers in India, which has caused protests at the Indian units of Toyota Motor Corp and Honda Motor Co in recent years.

Last month, sacked employees beat to death the India head of an Italian industrial manufacturing company near Delhi.

The Indian aviation industry, which had grown at an average annual pace of more than 25 percent in the past few years in a booming economy, is forecast to post combined losses of nearly $2 billion in the year to March 2009.

Jet Airways, which has said it expects to break even in the full year to March 2010, has struggled to raise money, with the turbulent market delaying a planned $400 million rights issue as well as a stake sale by founder Goyal.

Jet, which on Monday announced a code-sharing alliance with No. 2 carrier Kingfisher Airlines to cut costs, has put its international expansion plans on hold and trimmed capacity.

This is absolutely amazing – and makes perfect sense!!

It’s been said that God first separated the salt water from the fresh, made dry land, planted a garden, made animals and fish… all before making a human. He made and provided what we’d need before we were born. These are best & more powerful when eaten raw. We’re such slow learners…

God left us a great clue as to what foods help what part of our body!
God’s Pharmacy! Amazing!
A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye… and YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.
A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is red. All of the research shows tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food.
Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.
A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help develop more than three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.
Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.
Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don’t have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.
Avocadoes, Eggplant and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female – they look just like these organs. Today’s research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).
Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of Sperm as well to overcome male sterility.
Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.
Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries
Oranges, Grapefruits, and other Citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.
Onions look like the body’s cells. Today’s research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, Garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.

An amazing Love Story

He met her on a party. She was so outstanding, many guys chasing after her, while he so normal, nobody paid attention to him. At the end of the party, he invited her to have coffee with him, she was surprised, but due to being polite, she promised. They sat in a nice coffee shop, he was too nervous to say anything, she felt uncomfortable, she thought, please,
let me go home…. suddenly he asked the waiter. ‘would you please give me some salt? I’d like to put it in my coffee.’
Everybody stared at him, so strange! His face turned red, but still, he
put the salt in his coffee and drank it. She asked him curiously; why
you have this hobby? He replied: ‘when I was a little boy, I was living near the sea, I like playing in the sea, I could feel the taste of the sea, just like the taste of the salty coffee. Now every time I have the salty
coffee, I always think of my childhood, think of my hometown, I miss my hometown so much, I miss my parents who are still living there’. While saying that tears filled his eyes. She was deeply touched.
That’s his true feeling, from the bottom of his heart. A man who can
fill out his homesickness, he must be a man who loves home, cares about home, has responsibility of home. Then she also started to speak, spoke about her faraway hometown, her childhood, her family. That was a really nice talk, also a beautiful beginning of their story. They continued to date. She found that actually he was a man who meets all her demands; he had tolerance, was kind hearted, warm, careful. He was
such a good person but she almost missed him! Thanks to his salty
coffee! Then the story was just like every beautiful love story , the princess married to the prince, then they were living the happy life… And, every time she made coffee for him, she put some salt in the coffee e, as she knew that’s the way he liked it. After 40 years, he passed away, left her a letter which said: ‘My dearest, please forgive me, forgive my whole life lie. This was the only lie I said to you—the salty coffee. Remember the first time we dated? I was so nervous at that time, actually I wanted some sugar, but I said salt It was hard for me to change so I just went ahead.I never thought that could be the start of our communication! I tried to tell you the truth many times in my life, but I was too afraid to do that, as I have promised not to lie to you for anything.. Now I’m dying, I afraid of nothing so I tell you the truth: I don’t like the salty coffee, what a strange bad taste.. But I have had the salty coffee for my whole life! Since I knew you, I never feel sorry for anything I do for you. Having you with me is my biggest happiness for my whole life. If I can live for the second time, still want to know you
and have you for my whole life, even though I have to drink the salty coffee again’. Her tears made the letter totally wet.Someday, someone asked her: what’s the taste of salty coffee? It’s sweet. She replied.
Love is not 2 forget but 2 forgive, not 2 c but 2 understand, not 2 hear
but 2 listen, not 2 let go but 2 HOLD ON !!!!

Back in the sixties and seventies Chennai was a tremendous source of pleasure because the Marina Beach was worth a visit. On the Beach Road it was a delight to take a walk with friends, munch sundal bought in the beach, enjoy the breeze blowing across your face and chat over a cup of coffee. It was crowded then as it is now but one could see a lot of green vegetation around Triplicane and on the Beach Road.
Travelling by bus from T. Nagar (those days one had to go to T.Nagar from Mambalam to catch a bus for the beach) was pleasant because the crowd would be sparse and the sweat of summer and somebody breathing down your neck was not there. One can stroll down Kalaivanar Arangam upto Shanthi theatre. I remember still walking right up to Triplicane with my cousins or friends on G.N.Chetty Road lined with independent bungalows or houses with gorgeous vegetation. Chennaites those days had a penchant for gardening and kept the horticultural shops busy. Water was scarce and yet the monsoon was predictable. Growth was there but it was not at the expense of environment. On the same G.N.Chetty Road can anybody see vegetation now? Lined with concrete and light absorbing windows, it stuns the eye. It may be fine that the windows of these office/commercial complexes absorb light, prevent noise from getting in and keeps the inside cool. But where is natural greenery? One would find manicured lawns in them with a made-to-order fount but it is all tailormade to please the business eye. That is what it has come down to. Business decides growth and its directions and not priorities. Venkatnarayana Road, where T.Nagar High School of which I am an alumni is located, had then a huge green bough and its shadow would cover the entire stretch. One could see it from the tip of the road itself. Now only a shadow of it is left. One cannot pine for the past,Yes.But one cannot look into a very bright future either.

Ask this question and most people would prevaricate and flounder with their answers.I have observed that people don’t hesitate when they are admitting to being satisfiedwith their job, life, and marriage. They would readily admit to having fun.But happy in the true sense? Well, it could always be better…a guarded look follows the shrug.

Why is it so hard to admit that we are happy?

The definition in Wikipedia says:‘Happiness is an emotion associated with feelings ranging
from contentment and satisfaction to bliss and intense joy’.To me all the above mentioned words have different meanings.That happiness is an emotion I agree. But ‘contentment’, ‘bliss’ and ‘intense joy’;
all these stand separately for me. I don’t confuse it with happiness. I may feel all this at different stages and varied levels in my life, but this does not define happiness for me. Intense joy is when I see a beloved face. Contentment for me stands for a work done efficiently. I would feel blissful when I watch my garden blooming with newly sprung flowers.

On the other hand, if I had suffered a bad day at the office, was at the receiving end of someone’s misplaced wrath then I would question my emotions of being satisfied, feeling intense joy and of experiencing bliss. Because all these emotions are related to my present mood and the existential circumstances. Obviously the last thing on my mind would be feeling ‘intense joy’ if I had a spat with someone at the office!

But what exactly stops me from being happy? Does happiness depend on my ever changing external circumstances?
Or is it true what these New Age gurus keep telling us: ‘Happiness is a state of mind. Happiness is something
we can teach and train ourselves to feel.’

Perhaps, what they mean is that happiness is construed by not depending on the verifiable circumstances.

Research does show that even if our external circumstances do not fit into the stereotypical frame
of happiness such as, having wealth, success, fame; we can still be happy. Wealth or progress does
not automatically translate into happiness.
Researchers also argue that most developed countries are not necessarily the happiest. In a global
survey of happiness, the USA came down 23rd in the list of countries. Whereas, this is a land of plenty;
with their supermarkets full and bursting, their standards of living high, their parks magnificent and
their universities excellent, along with unlimited freedom for expression. They lack nothing and are much
ahead in progress from almost all the countries in the world, but the happiness quotient here
is still notup to the mark.
So many film stars and rock stars have committed suicide at the peak of their careers. If accomplishments,
global eminence, and wealth were the criteria of happiness they should have been the happiest people on earth.
Though opinions are always divided, the acquisition of wealth and fame doesn’t seem to pave the way to happiness.
Some well-conducted surveys have showed that people are happiest when they are close to their loved ones,
have lesser expectations (not to be confused with lack of ambition, but a certain detachment) and are in good health.

Sometime ago I came across someone’s view on happiness on a blogger website (in fact this particular
blog gave me the inspiration to write this article on happiness)
It said, that happiness is making everybody in your life happy. The article elaborated on various
relationship circles of a person’s life. These circles contain family, friends, colleagues, shopkeepers,
daily help and various service providers and even strangers we come across in our lives.
The key to happiness according to the writer is keeping everyone in those circles happy.

Well, this one way of looking at personal happiness and I don’t contest that. But personally speaking,
‘trying to keep everyone happy’ would be a tall claim for me. I know that I can never keep everyone
around me happy, because when I tried to do that I suffered from severe ‘energy leaks’. I felt depleted.
Spent. I realized that in my quest and struggle of doing so, I was making my self extremely unhappy!

My friend says, “ Happiness is like love. You can feel it but can never define it.” Fair enough.
I also agree that at least one thing is common between love and happiness. Do not chase!
A quote says: ‘Happiness is like a butterfly; the more you chase it the more it eludes you.
But if you turn your attention to other things, it comes and softly sits on your shoulder.’
If we chase happiness, trying to find it in money, perfect partner, exceptional career etc.
then it becomes an elusive quest. Same doctrine goes for love. You don’t chase love.
You just happen to fall in the line, when cupid shoots blindly!

I realized that happiness also changes definition as we grow. When I was 10 years old, riding
my new red bicycle gave me incredible happiness. I still remember the exhilarating feeling of
utter happiness when I went round and round in the park setting speed goals and achieving it.
The teenage years were more complicated. Happiness was a soft look from my handsome PT teacher
(I had a massive crush on him) Happiness was bunked school.A stolen kiss.Finding a love note in my chemistry book.

Now, it is simpler.Happiness is,not having to look for reasons. To have, both sides of the bed.
To, write.
Sometimes, to just be. Perhaps what they say about lesser expectations is true.
The simpler we make our lives the happier we are.
Recently I discovered that happiness is a decision for me. It is a power I give to myself,
to choose. If I choose to be happy in the face of all the horrors of existence, who can stop me?
Each morning when I wake up I decide whether to grasp its essence or let it slip by. The decision is all mine.
Be happy!
