MacBook Touch Concept

A transparent, multitouch display that acts as a control surface on both sides, the MacBook Touch concept is based on one of Apple’s latest patents: using a transparent multitouch display that can work as a control surface whether it’s open or closed. The moment the computer is opened, the surface will display a keyboard or any other kind of user interface.

Toshiba’s Media Server

Merging telephone and TV with wireless HD technology, the Toshiba media server allows you to automatically download media files from your cell phone, using near field communication technology, which can then be displayed from the media server to a wireless HD 1080p TV. The idea is that you can transfer media files in a snap with this easy-to-use octagonal device.
HP LiM (Less is More) Concept

Featuring a 19-inch OLED transparent touchscreen that slides down for better handling, this slick-looking device has a wireless keyboard, virtual trackpad, and uses Bamboo fabric across the aluminum frame.
B-membrane

Eliminating the need for a bulky monitor, the B-membrane, designed by Won-Seok Lee has a built-in projector that can be beamed onto any surface. The membrane keyboard only appears when needed and when not being used as a computer, the projector can be used to produce ambient lighting effects.
Shark Mouse

Designed as an eco-friendly alternative to the regular computer mouse, this shark-like concept is made from recyclable thermoplastic, has removed any extra mouse-parts such as the rest for your palm and has minimum surface contact in order to reduce friction. As sleek as the design is, I’m not sure how comfortable it looks if you’re using it for a longer period of time.
P-ISM Pen-style Personal Computer

The P-ISM is described as a “pen-computer package” includes five functions: a pen-style cellular phone with a handwriting data input, virtual keyboard, a very small projector, camera scanner, and personal ID key with cashless pass function. P-ISMs are connected with one another through short-range wireless technology. The whole set is also connected to the Internet through the cellular phone function. This personal gadget in a minimalist pen style enables the ultimate ubiquitous computing.
Rolltop Computer

The Rolltop is a concept by Orkin Design, which can be rolled up and transported just like a yoga mat. The laptop has a flexible OLED display with multitouch capabilities. With the weight of a mini-notebook, it easily transforms into a graphics tablet, with a 17-inch flat screen that can be used as a primary monitor. It can also be folded into a 13-inch tablet.

Bookshelf

In a future where less is more, the Bookshelf concept seems to have an awful lot of parts to it, but just wait to hear how it works. Resembling and functioning just like a bookshelf, instead of placing books and magazines on this shelf you are placing hardware. The foundation of the computer is its central processing unit, which is a 7-inch cube. The Bookshelf operates with add-on hard drive attachments that are supplied by digital service providers. According to one of it’s designers, Sungho Son, “Digital contents are downloaded through subscriptions, then arranged in each hardware attachment, which are provided by the subscription’s service. The physical configuration of the unit permits users to visually navigate the categories of content as they do with books on a bookshelf.”

The hardware attachments – containing multiple movies, games, or magazines – will vary in width, but its other dimensions will be the same as the Bookshelf cube. As the hardware attachments are added, the Bookshelf becomes its own multimedia library custom-built by its owner.
Yuno PC

Probably the only computer that you can pour a whole cup of coffee into, the Yuno PC incorporates all your important morning alerts from the weather, traffic reports, stocks and more, on its touchscreen display.
Eye-Controlled Computer

A gadget designed to help make a computer controllable for a person with a disability, the camera is locked close to the user’s eye and is programmed to detect the eye’s behaviour, also capable of perceiving head movements. Data from the detector is sent to a control unit and generated into orders the computer will understand. The cursor on the monitor receives all the commands and follows the eyeball. A quick close of the eye is interpreted as a click, whereas a prolonged eye closing means double click.

Cell Phones

Our world has been transformed by these little communication devices, to the point that people think nothing of engaging in a cell phone conversation, whether in a bathroom, a bus, a movie, a date or a restaurant. . Let us not forget ringtones; the nail-scratches on a chalkboard of mobile technology. It seems the worse the song is, the louder and more prevalent it is too.

Alarm Clocks

Unless your alarm clock is ready to serve you bacon when you wake up (as the ingenious one shown above does), there really isn’t any fair reason for you to have to peel your eyes open and rise from the comforts of your warm and cozy bed.

Bluetooth Headsets

You’re standing in a grocery line when all of a sudden a shrill voice behind you shouts “Hey! What’s up? How are ya?” You nearly skyrocket through the ceiling, dropping all your items when you realize, the person behind you isn’t talking to you nor to themselves, in fact they are speaking into a contraption they insert into their ear that should only be used when driving.

Laptop Batteries

Techies have long known that official battery-life claims are pretty much worthless. After 12 months, that “full 8 hours of battery-life” lasts more like 3-4 hours, (if you’re lucky) and as a few more months go by, you may only have a few minutes before having to plug in. Rechargeable batteries aren’t much better, losing performance with every charge. Then there are the extreme cases of exploding laptops. There have been many reported cases of cells that have overheated and ruptured into flames.

Sealed Batteries

Why should the life of a product be tied to its internal sealed battery life? Products with sealed batteries (e.g. iPod, iTouch, iPhone) are frustrating in that you are not given the option to change your battery for a fresh one when your music dies.

TV

Perhaps more of a love/hate relationship, televisions provide us hours of distraction and entertainment but we are always the first to complain about its capacity to numb and obscure our humanity.

Remote controls

Even with universal controls, remotes are always getting lost, unless you are prepared to literally wear your remotes (as shown above).

The clock tower on the Banks of Ganges!

We stayed in a hotel called “Aarthi Darshan” which is just across this tower. The hotel is a pathetic one in terms of cleaniness or service, but then its location waives all its disadvantages. From the balcony of this place, we can have a look at the Ganges all thru the day!

Another disadvantage of the hotel was “Monkey Trouble”, as the balcony has no grills we never know when it will come and sit next to us to give us company! ))

The “Aarthi” for Ganges takes place twice in a day Morning around 6am and evening @ 6pm!! This is a spiritually enlightening experience just to attend the Aarthi.. The community prayer blaring in the loud speakers and the Aarthi itself against the back drop of the vibrant river – is peaceful thingy!!

We have to keep our wallets careful as the place is crowded during the Aarthi session. Also beware of the Sadhus who aim at minting money.

After the aarthi session, my sister and I went on a walk along the Bazzar. It was a delightful experience!

The $175 Linux-based system has a Webcam built in, as well as a range of applications, including Web browsing, e-mail and IM.

It can connect to the Internet using a standard Wi-Fi connection, or it can use your cell phone’s mobile broadband connection via Bluetooth.

The company is currently pitching it to mobile network operators and retail stores.

It’s being compared to the ill-fated Palm Foleo. But the comparison doesn’t work because the Foleo was Palm-phone only, didn’t fit in a pocket and cost well over three times the price of the iKIT.

The Books Are No Longer

When you’ve lived someplace a while

And reading a lot is your style.

The books you read may not be filed

In any recognizable order.

This, in fact, was our position,

But today I made a firm decision

To clean up this extreme book collision

And get our bookcases in order.

I dumped the books I no longer use

And put the ones I use in view.

I rearranged the books anew

So I’d know where to find them.

Now I’ve got a few more tasks.

“Get your written work straightened,” myself I ask,

“And do not let too much time pass

Before you straighten up your school papers.”

I’ve found that when I straighten up,

My mind. itself, gets cleared of stuff,

But it only happens when I get enough

Time that I proceed.

Helen asked, “Why did you do it today?”

“I’m tired because we flew home yesterday,”

““I had to do it,” I had to say,

“Because it had been on my mind for months.”

And today I really had the time,

So the books are no longer on my mind.

Soon, over the refrigerator I will climb

To get my written work in the cabinets there together.

The queen of bollywod, Priyanka Chopra is all set to play twelve different characters in her upcoming movie What”s Your Rashee? directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. She will better southern megastar Kamal Hassan who played ten different characters in his epic Dasavathaaram. The movie which will be based on astrology will see Priyanka playing twelve different characters depicting the twelve zodiac signs. Each character will have a trait related to the zodiac sign.

What’s Your Rashee will be the first movie for Gowariker after his magnum opus Jodhaa Akbar. It will also star Priyanka’s beau Harman Baweja who had a disastrous start to his career with Love Story 2050. The movie will be a romantic comedy based on a novel Kimball Ravenswood written by US based Gujarati writer Madhu Rye. This will be the first time Gowariker will venture into romantic comedy
