Everyone is curious to know what is Aamir Khan’s new film Ghajini all about. Since the star has decided to keep mum on the issue, we decided to dig into Aamir’s blog to figure out.

To begin with, the film is a Hindi remake of director Murgadoss’s Tamil film Ghajini.

“Now am not sure if the film will be called Ghajini in Hindi. It’s a film that I saw and really liked it. It’s a very well made film. It’s a film that’s very moving and exciting at the same time,” says Aamir.

But it’s no secret that Ghajini was itself a remake of the successful American film Memento. And that question has now been asked to the oh-so-virtuous actor on the blog that he’s been writing lately.

Aamir for his part denies the plagiarism charge on the blog. For those who can’t be bothered to visit the blog and participate in the whole exchange, here it is, all simplified for you, much like Murgadoss seems to have simplified Memento into Ghajini.

Question on the blog: Is Ghajini a copy of Memento?

Aamir’s reply: Murugadoss had heard about a film called Memento and the concept had really fascinated him. Without having seen the film he went ahead and wrote his own version of the script and screenplay. Having finished his script he then saw Memento, found it very different from what he had written, and went ahead and made Ghajini.

Question on the blog: Well then, the idea is copied. Isn’t it?

Aamir’s reply: In my opinion this is a genuine case of ‘inspired from’, and nothing beyond that. Murugadoss has written a completely different and original screenplay and he should get the due credit for his work.

Question on the blog: Shouldn’t some acknowledgment be made to the fact that Ghajini is inspired from Memento then?

Aamir’s reply: I did not like Memento. Why Memento did not work for me is that it left me confused. By the end of the film I had no idea who had killed the hero’s wife? Had she been killed at all? Had he killed his own wife? Did he finally get the guy who killed his wife? Was he still searching? Did he have a wife at all?

Well, it’s a pity that Aamir couldn’t understand Memento because millions did and enjoyed it immensely.

As for saying Murgadoss didn’t watch Memento before he wrote Ghajini, who is Aamir fooling? Or is he also going to say that his cousin and director Mansoor Khan didn’t watch Kramer vs Kramer before writing Akele Hum Akele Tum?

I have spent a good few hours with him on work, and he did come across as Aamir Khan version 2.0.

Imran is meticulous, likes to be in control (yes, he likes to take care of the last comma and full-stop even while typing furiously), methodical, and a huge bundle of nervous energy (he’s a kid for heavens’ sake). And here’s a little secret, he likes dogs and dogs seem to like him too Personally, I think these traits will carry him some distance, if not far.

Back to this ‘young’ wave in Bollywood, 40 and hot is suddenly so last year! Exception may be Akshay Kumar, but this Friday we will find out how hot is the Khiladi, grey streak and all. (Ooh! By the way, did you catch this episode of Khatron Ke Khiladi, where Akshay blindfolds a very flustered Pooja Bedi and guides her hand to various parts of his body? “Guess which part of my body this is”, he challenges Bedi who ‘boasts’ of being a “touch-feely person”. Gosh! You should have seen this kinky sequence with the aging Bedi trying hard to stop giggling and Akshay, poker-faced, guiding her hand from his ears to lower and lower….! Prime time television may just have done a somersault.)

Forty-something Salman, making a fool of himself, scaring his hot girlfriend away is so not cool. That guy loves to mess things up for himself, royally. Shah Rukh Khan’s dismal TV ratings may just be an indication of his weakening grip on the box-office as well. Once again, Billoo Barber may prove us otherwise. And Saif these days seems to be more interested in policing his hot girlfriend than wooing female fans.

More on the desperation to get young.

A TV channel recently was considering Abhishek Bachchan for endorsing a ‘youthful’ brand, but initial viewership surveys revealed he no longer has what it takes to be a youth icon. Ouch! Meanwhile Nakshatra dumping Ash for a ‘younger’ Kat has been the talk of the town. Literally. Feel sorry for Abhishek, who looks best these days in TV ads. Will Drona’s special effects turn things in his favour? Maybe…

This season has been about young blood. About fresh new faces, sounds and ideas. And Farhan Akhtar’s Rock On with 40-something rockers but with a youthful, vibrant soundtrack would an interesting film to watch. Maybe the ‘men’ will again rule the ‘boys!’

How do you feel making your debut opposite Himesh Reshammiya?

I’m very excited because I’ve finally become an actress! My dream is coming true! Working with Himesh was good fun. He’s co-operative, helpful and in spite of being such a big star, he didn’t make me feel like a newcomer.

What are your expectations from Karzzzz?

A lot of people have a lot of expectations from Karzzzz…I think it’s gonna rock!

What made you decide to become an actress?

I was born and brought up in the film industry, my family is part of Bollywood. I’ve been attracted to the glam world since childhood!

Do you follow any diet regime?

Not at all, I eat all types of food…especially junk food! I can eat anything and not really be affected…I’m blessed that way!

Are you comfortable wearing a bikini on screen?

Ha ha, it was a covered bikini…I mean, it wasn’t very revealing!

Your father Indra Kumar is a big name in Bollywood. Why didn’t he launch you?

Oh, he was going to (launch me)…but then he was busy with Dhamaal. Finding a proper script and story for me would take some time, and all of a sudden Karzzz happened. People had anyway got the news that Indra Kumar was planning to launch his daughter, and that’s how everybody found out I’m doing Karzzzz. I think Karzzzz is the perfect launchpad for me.

What kind of movies do you want to do?

Action-packed dhamaal-masti, I want to do Bollywood masala films!

In fact, if Gadhvi had made Imran Khan’s character abduct Vidya instead of Minissha Lamba, there would have been much more to look forward to in the film. Think of it – a sexy divorcee trapped in a lonely house by the beach with a boy who seems straight out of college… not a bad idea for a path-breaking Bollywood film, huh?

But Sanjay Gadhvi harbours no Oedipal complex. He chooses Minissha Lamba instead. Minissha plays a 17-year-old (and almost always) scantily clad girl, Sonia, whose parents are divorced. And even though her mother Mallika (Vidya Malavade) has given her all the material comforts, she’s never managed to take the place of her divorced husband, Vikrant Raina (Sanjay Dutt).

One fine morning, an adamant Sonia insists on seeing her father and an argument with her mother follows. She storms out of the house and the next thing we know is that she’s been kidnapped. The kidnapper, Kabir, (Imran Khan) has an old score to settle with her father and makes him run all over the country to get his daughter back. The drama that lasts over five days changes the lives of the two men forever.

Skin, sin and the chase

Needless to say the running around is amply interspersed with skin show (Minissha wears a bikini in this one if you don’t already know) and songs. But through it all you cannot help but wonder just what is the point of this cat-and-mouse game after all. When you think of it, in the end there is a scene where the two rivals (Dutt and Khan) come face to face and try to convey it.

Probably it’s something to do with Gandhi Jayanti and the ‘Love all and find peace’ sentiment that will prevail at least over the weekend that follows. But honestly, I’m not sure I get it.

A source informed, “It’s a known fact that Rani is older to Shahid by a few years. Shahid’s pairing with an older actress like Vidya Balan in Kismat Konnection didn’t exactly go down well with his female fans and critics alike. Taking a cue from it perhaps, Rani was hell bent on not letting their age difference be visible not only on screen but off the screen as well.

Rani and her another co-star in the film, Anupam Kher were first to arrive for the Punjab schedule. Shahid joined them just a few days back. So when Shahid arrived, Rani started addressing him as, ‘Shahid Sir‘ every now and then. Initially Shahid found it amusing. Shahid however, could not hide his embarrassment as she would say that in front of the entire Yash Raj unit which is like a ‘home ground’ for her. But after a point it started grating on his nerves when every single person in the unit started aping Rani and addressing him as ‘Shahid Sir’. The ADs who were addressing him by his first name too went in to the ‘Shahid Sir‘ mode. He mistook it all as being a purposely done prank by all present to irritate him initiated by Rani. Last week when Rani’s Man Friday went up to him to give Rani’s message to join him for lunch during the shooting lunch break and ended up using the ‘Shahid Sir‘ term as usual. An irritated Shahid shouted back at him for using it and the poor chap literally ran back to Rani. Shahid didn’t join Rani for lunch but the matter seemed to be over by the evening after Rani went and spoke to him after the shoot for the day got over.”

“Now they both are calling each other by their first names. The rest of unit members right from Rani’s personal staff members to the ADs to the spot boys however are sticking to the typically filmy – ‘Shahid ji and Rani ji‘ while speaking to them both.” the source concluded.

I booked the ticket for this movie – Bachna Ae Haseeno( BAH) , with great expectations from this cute looking actor from Kapoor Khandaan-Ranbir Kapoor. But, from the entry scene onwards, he only disappointed me. In fact, he was a total misfit in the role of Raj. He not only failed to express well for that naughty looking role, which his father or uncles performed with ease in the past. His performance only gave an indication that he was either not comfortable to play that role or he can’t act. Frankly speaking, I haven’t seen his previous film’Saavariyan’. But, I am sure, if he does one more such type of role, with same expressions, he would be out of this industry.

Talking about the girls, all three of them looked more confident than the hero. The film’s story is just a lift from DDLJ, as far as the first part with Minisha Lamba is concerned. Otherwise, it has shades of Dev anand’s old hit ‘Teen Deviyan’ and few Hollywood films. If our directors start lifting themes from previous films, why should they take credit for story, screenplay and direction.? One never expected Yashraj Films to do such a business. Last but not the least,’Never take the viewers for granted’. BAH is just an ordinary film. It is certainly not a family entertainer.

Much has been written and said about Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor after their debut film Saawariya which failed drastically at the box-office. Though Ranbir many a times referred Sonam only as a childhood friend and denied to be in any sort of intimate relationship, it is the media that occasionally refreshes the issue. The time has come for men to be lovers. Yes the gay style love making. Karan Johar’s Dostana shows leading men Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham as lovers.
Here’s how it goes…

The promo of the movie opens with the signature Dharma tune of Kal Ho Na Ho, with the Miami skyline and a pink convertible speeding on an open road. Soon, the mellow tune gives way to a bouncy hip-hop number, and a bare-bodied John Abraham emerges from the water in yellow trunks. Without wasting much time, the promo then cuts the scene where John and Abhishek are doing the tango, with Bachchan Jr, holding a rose in his teeth. In another scene John announces to a woman, “Hum gay hain!” and pointing to Abhishek adds, “Yeh mera boyfriend hai!”

This is the first time that a mainstream Bollywood film with big actors has based its entire storyline around the gay theme. There are multiple shots of John and Abhishek romancing each other, holding hands, blowing kisses, hugging and even lying on top of each other! It’s blatantly evident that of the two, Abhishek’s character is more camp while John is the man in the relationship. It’s hard to miss the two dressed up in sailor outfits, an ode to the fantasies of a gay man.

Priyanka heats up the promo in a stunning gold swimsuit on the Miami beach. Towards the end, there’s another closer bare-bodied shot of John coming out of the ocean.

We just wonder whats Priyanka doing there if the film is based on the gays.
