The Ocean I Have Come To Know
Yesterday, I was sitting by the beach here in Southern California while my daughter was swimming. As I sat there, I wrote this poem.
Swimming In God’s Ocean, a computer drawing by Harry Kottler
The Ocean I Have Come To Know
by Harry Kottler
Sitting by the outer beach
All we need is inner peace.
We don’t need the waves to ride.
We need to find peace inside.
The ocean I have come to know,
The one without an undertow,
The one that lives within my being,
The one that is supremely freeing.
There I move with total ease.
The water suits all of my needs.
Its boundless space does not bind me
For I am everything I see.
The outer ocean is a place
Which brings a smile to every face,
But the inner ocean’s quite divine.
Within it, I lose track of time.
Sitting by the inner beach
Ecstasy’s within our reach.
All we need is meditation and devotion
To swim inside God’s glorious ocean.
…………
With love and respect,
