Supreme Court, Impotence and the Govt of India
Whenever I read a report in a newspaper about how the highest court of the land
chided such and such a govt of such & such state or the Govt of india, on issues ranging
from illegal squattors to sharing of waters, it always evokes a mixed feeling of laughter
and sadness. The whole judicial machinary in India is being made to look like an aging
impotent pachyderm in front of the Government.
In today’s Times of India (isn’t it always that !) I see a frontpage report on the Supreme Court
judges declaring that ‘there is no hope for India’. The news item had to do with the Govt of India
refusing to pass a law that will prevent illegal possesion of Govt quarters by ex MPs, babus,
netas, bahus, pothas, pothis etc
What else should one expect in a country that has once again been ‘colonized’ by corrupt,
power drunk politicians who just don’t understand the meaning of freedom?
The current crop of bureaucrats and politicians make the British look like little kids
throwing tantrums in somebody else’s home. The only thought going through their
minds is “This is our seat, our rule, our money and the others are just our servants”.
God save the country !
