Shouting, money and the verdict, UPA wins the trust vote

 

When I switched on the TV at 6 pm yesterday to watch the trust vote in parliament then I could see a melee in the parliament. Every body is shouting at no body and the speaker was vainly trying to chastise the errant MPs like a school headmaster. The news channel was showing the shouting of MPs and in between a sackful of 1000 rupees notes were in display. I could hardly hear any argument. The parliament got adjourned up to 6.30pm. The parliament was resumed with much shouting from the opposition. The left got real thrashing from two Muslim MPs. PM could not speak or rather he could not be heard so he submitted his speech as read. The vote was taken and UPA won the trust vote.

Today after my morning work out in the range went for hair cut in my neighborhoods saloon. I could hear the barbers discussing among themselves about the crores of rupees shown in the TV. They were wondering about the heap of money and how many stacks of 1000 rupees note would have been required to make one crore. After hearing their discussion I realized that many of us must be seeing so much of real money in the TV for the first time. After my haircut I asked for their opinion about the trust vote. I found them more interested about the money and how the MPs are making money. The picture below shows one of them displaying money.


On the way out I came across my old tailor and put the same question about yesterday’s trust vote. He too with a twinkle in his eyes said, “Babu, have you ever seen that much money?”


While going to my office by the rickety lift I put the same question to the lift operator. He sternly looked back at me and said, “I earn 2000 rupees per month and for the first time I saw that much money yesterday in the TV?”


So my survey indicated the winning of trust vote by UPA is period but the aam admi is having the image of money permanently imprinted in their mind.
