I Thought I’d Seen…
I thought I’d seen everything
But then I saw
I love who we are
And I love what we have become
I and think I see
How I feel when I am smiling
Sitting here alone
I don’t have to be scared of the midnight storm
It just rages in the passing,
When you cross my mind
I thought I’d had nothing more to discover
Until I’d find
The river rising is sending ripples across your skin
I thought I’d seen everything
Till I saw you;
I thought I’d been everything
Till I’d been with you
I thought I knew everything
Till I knew you
Ridges on your nose
The black spot on your calf
A little sweet temptation splitting me into halves
I thought I could be a know it all
And look at you and understand
How you were still leaning to fall
When you pulled at my hand;
And I don’t care if we’re no longer standing
But lying face up and staring
With you demanding
Scores of attention
I thought I’d spent it all
Maybe I thought I was right
But I knew I was wrong
When I thought I’d see it all
It was just the beginning
I was just learning to see
How I feel when I am smiling
Trying to be
Someone who didn’t know it all
I Think I’m beginning to love
The people we have become
I love what you promise
I thought all promises were done
But I love what we’ve become
So maybe I didn’t see it all
When I thought I’d seen everything
Till I saw you;
I thought I’d been everything
Till I’d been with you
I thought I knew everything
Till I knew you
