Y’day was doctor’s day, thought why not pay little tribute to all doctors who treated me since childhood. Thanks to all of them i am still 1 piece without much damage. In india doctors are next to god. And some wonderful souls have kept this impression still alive.

Let me try to remember some wonderful docs i met of course as a patient.

1.Dr S: He was the only doctor in neighborhood when we first moved to this place where i grew up. Once my finger was crushed on a windy day when door suddenly got closed. Mom took me to Dr S and my tiny finger needed some stiches. He didn’t had all his weapons so he took us to the hospital where he was working. I was scared of stiches and was crying like a hell broken. My crying probably didn’t help Dr S focus, so he got mad at me that am crying for no reason and it’s not hurting. I stopped crying but didn’t like his yelling. (see from childhood i didn’t like when someone yelled at me…)

2. Dr R who was practicing from home only. And he was living at the end of “gali”. So for all small problems cold, fever etc etc we will visit him first. And he was a very nice person. Soft spoken and will listen to you. He will do house calls even in the middle of the night and you won’t have to carry his bag. No attitude and humble…When i moved to hostel, he would ask my mom abt me if i came home and i would tell my mom “There will never be a day when i visit home but won’t have to visit him.” Reason not that we had become good friends but b/c i got sick everytime i went home atleast will have sore throat.

3. Parsi doctor: I got sick after 10th exam and it turned out jaundice so was hospitalized. He was a smart good looking doctor but very strict. I couldn’t joke with him.

4. Dr A: i got sick again when i was in 12th and in hospital again…My dad would joke that i go to hospital for a vacation now. This time Dr A treated me. He was very jovial and whenever he came on rounds, i had fun. I would tell him abt my study and all tuition that am missing and will beg him to release me soon. He did let me go early with some conditions.

And all doc sulekha friends. ixedoc, Baab and D_W. No words required for them.

Happy Doctor’s Day to all wonderful docs !
