A Young dream lying dead on the road-accidents kills so many daily
A student of 12th std driving his own motor cycle was crushed to death under wheels of a 56 seater bus also carrying students of a school. That must be a routine story for us all to feel sorry for the family and friends who will be living till end , under this burden of the wheels that crushed all their all hopes and dreams. But this raises few questions which we all can try asking and solving to prevent furthur tragedies.
First of all let us find fault with the dead student even when he was NOT in this acse it seems and not drunk at all.We all esp. parents and teachers should be warning our students repeatedly about the dangers of not driving according to the traffic rules and wear helmets .Driving with a cool head is a harsh expectation from us from a 12th std stressed student but he should have theoritically.Importance of this step cannot be over stressed. There is big bad world of driving on Indian roads and rising number of vehicles dissproportionate to the actual facilties.
Secondly let us find fault with the driver and the bus.It is time we have a strict rule with severest punishment for vehicles of large chassis-56 seater entering the city and residential areas in a peak time or for ever.It will be far better to encourage smaller chassis school and comercial vehicles by giving tax sops and RTO tax facilities so that more of us use and buy smaller chassis commercial vehicles esp. school buses.many schools have them. All the School authorities can make this as a policy remembering the dead student from tommorrow .Smaller buses are already running as city buses in Baroda.
Thirdly, let us examine our own selves as policy makers and those who vote for them as citizens. Why do we not support the lesser risky laws which the traffic police and experts want us to enforce? We can strengthen the RTO checking on all drivers and actually check them or have a regular compulsory meet to reorient ,train and warn them to risks of such rash driving and moral and tragic results that happen to others and them too. They then should be punished very severely if they are found at fault. But that result would come after 15 years looking at present accident cases load on the judiciary.
We all have to do something now ,all of us to prevent such a waste of lives on roads within ,highways and outside the cities under such a preventable situation. We need many implementors and enforcers and regulators who act with alertness to prevent such tragedies.Till then we all can just read this news on our couch and feel sorry for the departed young soul and a tragedy of perpetual pain of loss of his family, and many such cases which happen on our roads daily ,as we directly or indirectly let them happen .
